About Me: Cinema- My Life!

Films are like a beautiful world all together. There lies another soul; there lies another life within them.  Since my childhood, the only thing I could relate to, after playing cricket was “Cinema”. Earlier, it was just the joy of watching a 3 hour movie and enjoying the ‘dance’ our actors did. Then, after growing up a bit, it was the thought of relating myself to the movie or the story it possessed. If it was a horror movie, I would never-ever sleep alone in my room. The ferocious looking ghosts used to chase me in my dreams. If it was an action movie, I would imagine myself kicking and beating up all the goons. (Imagine an 8-9 year old beating up the goons, what a funny sight.) Then the next stage, the stage that actually matures up your brain. I had entered my teens and now, the love for movies had reached another level. There aren’t enough words to describe what my creative influences were but according to me, it was just the psychological effect. I guess I was just in awe of the entire filmmaking process. I certainly believe I am a maniac, a Movie Maniac.

Writing was always comprehensive for me. I used to put in all my thoughts and feelings into words. Plus, the passion of watching all the movies that released, got me into it. One day, while I was watching a movie (I can’t recall which one) it just randomly struck me that “This is what I want to do. I want to write and direct, for the people to see and enjoy my bit of thoughtfulness.”
Since, bollywood is now 100 years old. The journey began with “Raja Harishchandra” and today we have movies like “Paan Singh Tomar” & “Kahaani.” It’s just the magic of filmmaking which triggers me to get into this industry. Even I want to make movies that have a certain message for the audience to know and believe. If movies can add to the development of our society, then who needs millions? Not me, for sure.
The urge of entering this industry was a decision that I took a while back. As, there are a million people who want to get into the film industry and half of them come to Mumbai every day, to fulfill this dream. I believe, you should have full knowledge about what you are doing and you should be good at it. There is no point of landing on to a production house and telling them that you know everything and you’re ready to go. I want to learn the entire process of filmmaking and I want to catch hold of the technicalities first. If you have the ability, you need the training as well. Success is not guaranteed, but sustenance is, only if you’re well versed about things.
Belonging to a middle class family, I don’t have enormous dreams of becoming the richest man alive or anything like that. I’m just greedy about bringing a smile on to the audience’s faces and a little greedy about winning the National Award (just once). If this happens even by fluke, I wouldn’t want or need anything in life after that.
My strength and my weaknesses, both are the same actually.  I am too honest, that’s my strength but that becomes my weakness in most of the cases. To survive in today’s world, one has to be a diplomat and that’s something I dislike. This weakness is a big concern but I am working on it. I wouldn’t leave my honesty, for the sake of anything as it holds the values my parents have enlightened me with. But I’ll try and be watchful about things, so that neither am I incurring a loss nor someone else.
The skills and experience I need to gain to be proficient in this field are the skills of handling criticism and experience of working on a film set. One should have complete confidence and knowledge about what he/she is doing. I’m sure this blog and reviewing films would help me grind my future ahead.
All I need is, your support and blessings.
